ModCloth

At ModCloth, vintage fashion is busy helping women’s emancipation.

Concept

ModCloth, an e-commerce website selling vintage-style women’s clothes, has recently opened physical stores to offer advice to its customers and provide a closer relationship. ModCloth was first known for its feminist stance. Backed by its success, ModCloth is now part of the Walmart family after Jet.com acquired the company in 2017. The aim of this acquisition was to improve Walmart’s capability in e-commerce and operating showroom stores.

Why visit the store

Make an appointment with a stylist

A physical store means customers can make an appointment with a stylist (Modstylist) to find clothes which best suit their needs and expectations. Stores offer a local, friendly and straightforward welcome seeking to fulfil women’s clothing needs with something less traditional.

Try before buying online

The ModCloth store is in fact a showroom where customers can come and try on clothes they want to buy online. It is quite simply a showcase for the website.

Do a good deed

In 2015, ModCloth signed a partnership with Schoola to support the Malala Fund (Yousafzai Malala – Nobel Peace Prize winner) whose objective is to provide schooling for girls and women in Pakistan.

Fully transparent communication

Since 2015, the brand has been calling upon its employees to present ModCloth collections, instead of models. ModCloth employees posed in the brand’s swimwear collection for example, with the aim of helping women feel less complexed about their bodies in a world dictated by slender, long-legged models.
