Unsurprisingly, artificial intelligence takes center stage, sparking debates on its impact on the economy, businesses, and the necessary adaptations to work with it. Over 2,600 startups have already graced the stage, attracting a diverse audience of more than 70,000 participants from 153 different countries.

AI, WEB3. NFT, BLOCKCHAIN, CRYPTO

For this initial debrief, our experts delve into the flagship topic: artificial intelligence, sparking a significant debate on whether or not to control AI. McAfee, for instance, advocates against regulating AI, contrary to Europe’s intentions, to foster creativity and innovation.

Another discussed debate revolves around AI and its biases, particularly the data surrounding ChatGPT. With this buzzword, over 80% of startups incorporate “Artificial Intelligence” into their descriptions, making it the current focal point.

Web3, NFTs, Blockchain, and Crypto were the second topic that garnered keen interest among Web Summit participants this year.

DEBRIEF DAY 2

TERRABREEZE, GONINA, DENDRO…

For this second day, our expert Nicolas ventured to explore new startups, among which he focused on impact-driven ones.

TerraBreeze, for instance, promises to reduce air conditioning energy consumption by 96-98% through their solutions, with a patent currently being filed. Another startup, GoNina, aims to cut food waste by one-third in stores, supermarkets, and restaurants. The third startup, Dendro, pledges genuine transparency in measuring carbon emissions for businesses.

Additionally, virtual influencers, VTubers, are prevalent in Japan. Among the top 100 YouTube channels, 90 are controlled by virtual avatars, marking a rapidly growing market.

BLOCKCHAIN, DEEPTECH, CLIMATE CHANGE AND AI

For this final Web Summit debrief, our expert Nicolas Diacono presents a comprehensive analysis.

There are some key insights, especially regarding blockchain, which is currently structuring itself and becoming more robust. Consequently, we anticipate an acceleration in implementations with tangible and operational outcomes. In the realm of Deeptech and climate change, there are startups with promising solutions, but patience is still required.

While there were numerous discussions on AI, the lack of substantial experiential feedback remains a persistent challenge.
